My first experience was with Northwood just over three years ago when I was looking at buying my first place. The part that I loved is that the rate I received was lower for a 5 year fixed than many of my friends who purchased around the same thing. Also, I have the ability to hammer down my interest by increasing my payment which, when I was able to do, I did.... twice. It was also really quick and straight forward. I would definitely recommend them which is why I referred my brother who they were able to get a mortgage for despite still being in his probationary period with the TTC. Recently they followed up with a way to bring my rate down even further. Great service all around... these guys know their numbers/stuff.
I don't normally write reviews but in this case I will.
These guys just got me out of a really tight spot. Long story short, my financing fell through about a week before my closing date. The broker I was dealing with pretty much told me tough luck and that unless I was able to get an extension from the seller they would not be able to help me. I was not able to get the extension. After calling around to a couple of other brokerages and getting the same answer I called these guys. I spoke with Mike who said he see if he could rush my application and paperwork. Mike was able to get me the approved just under the wire. The rate was better too.
Northwood Mortgage is a great company to deal with. I especially like dealing with Allan Kates whom I have done at least three re-financing deals for my mortgage over the years. He has always been very professional, a straight shooter, economics savvy, an out-of-box thinker who has always been able to find ways to help my family even when I thought the mortgage deal will not go through. Over the years I built a good rapport with Allan and I have always trusted his judgement as he has always put my family in the right path financially. My advise to those reading this is, build a good and genuine rapport with Allan, get to know him and he will jump through the hoops for you to save you literally thousands of dollars down the road when it comes to your mortgage needs. While he is not perfect, I truly trust Allan and I highly recommend his services. He is worth every penny!
Your home is your most valuable asset. It is probably the single largest investment you will make in your lifetime. Your home is more than a place to rest your head and raise a family. Your home contains equity. It is a treasured resource and in some cases, can even be used as an ATM (aka cash back mortgages and HELOCs – don’t worry we’ll get there).
Everyone who is looking to purchase a home will need a mortgage. But, what is a mortgage exactly and why do you need it? Besides being the term to describe a loan secured by real estate, a mortgage allows you to access funding to procure your dream home.
